Cloud Gate Millennium Park Chicago

Here is a picture that Mara took when we visited Chicago. This is our reflection in the sculpture Cloud Gate, by Amish Kapoor. We think it looks like an Elsa Peretti necklace, so we just call it "the bean." Overall, the park was pretty cool. It reminds me of the Getty center (also by Frank Gehry) in that each section of the landscape has a very different feeling. The bike station, with 24-hour bike parking and locker rooms for commuters is also quite nice.

Paparazzi Outhouse

When the cheddarheads visited the buckeye state, we got to shoot, and we also got to sh*t according to the "local customs". Check out the Paparazzi Outhouse...

Last Thursday, we took some time at work to have fun and carve pumpkins. Mine is the one with the piercings.

When I went to Durban in Cape Town in March, I had a few breaks in the work.

In May of 2003, Mara and I had just returned from our honeymoon and decided to buy her a bicycle. When we got back home from the bike shop, I took the bike for a test drive (in the garage) from the car to the back door. Total distance was about 10 meters. The brakes were stronger than I expected. I flipped the bike, ending up on the floor, bleeding from the head. (There are still stains). Mara called an ambulance and we went to the hospital. By then I realized my arm was hurt pretty bad. While we were at the hospital, the bike got stolen. Turned out I had broken my wrist and torn a ligament in my elbow. I came home with a plaster reaching to my shoulder, a pretty bad headache, and a new appreciation for how much French I had learned in the last year. These are the pictures from my recovery...
