- Last Thursday, we took some time at work to have fun and carve pumpkins. Mine is the one with the piercings.

- When I went to Durban in Cape Town in March, I had a few breaks in the work.
Bike Wreck May 2003
- In May of 2003, Mara and I had just returned from our honeymoon and decided to buy her a bicycle. When we got back home from the bike shop, I took the bike for a test drive (in the garage) from the car to the back door. Total distance was about 10 meters. The brakes were stronger than I expected. I flipped the bike, ending up on the floor, bleeding from the head. (There are still stains). Mara called an ambulance and we went to the hospital. By then I realized my arm was hurt pretty bad. While we were at the hospital, the bike got stolen. Turned out I had broken my wrist and torn a ligament in my elbow. I came home with a plaster reaching to my shoulder, a pretty bad headache, and a new appreciation for how much French I had learned in the last year. These are the pictures from my recovery...

Annika Gladys is beautiful and I absolutely love her name. Grandmother would be so honored. Ditto on your friend Cindy's comment about your reading ON BECOMING BABY WISE. It is still paying off 12 years later, three children later! Mara, I labored for 45 hours with Ellie, our oldest, and finally delivered all 9 lbs 9 oz of her via C-section. Sorry you had to go through a similiar delivery -

Hi Brian and Mara, Congratulations Mommy & Daddy! She is perfect! Great Job Mara!! You will be great parents!!! I know everybody says it but enjoy every minute. They grow up soooo fast. I am hanging on every "baby" moment of our 3rd and final boy - now 5 months old. And Preston (almost 6) will be starting Kindergarten and Ryan now 4! Have Fun! OH - Read our favorite book for sleeping through the night - On Becoming Baby Wise!!
